In the early 1800 Dubai was a walled city. In 1820 a truce was agreed between Britain and the rulers of the city which allowed business and trade to develop as the trade routes were opened... This meant that interactions between Dubai and countries around the world developed. The discovery of oil began the further development of the city to become the thriving centre it is today.
